She was argumentative and said she didn't know how to ring up the sale with the coupon. When I showed her the coupon, she said they didn't take those, after the woman had told me it was fine when we arrived. This is a great little place and it would not deter me from going there again, but this girl working there was the pits. Trying to finish, it did not please me to hear the girl working there order a pizza when she should have been working. So, then our pieces had to be rushed as we could not return. No mention of closing time was disclosed when we arrived and the last time we went, the girl working there said they closed when everyone was finished painting. She yelled from across the room they would be closing at six and if you weren't finished painting, you could come back the next day. I like to think of painting as a time to relax in peace and quiet, but the girl working there drilled at a table near ours and rustled paper and banged chairs. On other visits there, someone working there would always ask if you needed more of a color and would get it for you, but this time, that was up to the customer to do and was unsure if we were supposed to. You can choose only five colors, so I chose mine and the girl working there came back with the wrong color and acted like it was my fault. So we sat down at around 4:15 to begin painting the pieces we had chosen. Our printer was broken, so when we got there, before even sitting down, we showed the coupon on my daughter's phone to the woman working there, perhaps owner or manager, and she said it was fine and the coupon eliminated our studio fee. Months ago I had bought a Cape Cod Daily Deal which eliminated the studio fee. I have been there twice before and had excellent experiences, but yesterday, not so much. This is a nice paint your own pottery place. Go find some, before all the land and history and place-specific beauty turns into something they sell tickets to. I don't know what kind of beautiful land they had to bulldoze to create this monstrosity. Mashpee actually has a LOT of Native American History. The merchandise is cheap there too, but at least it's not overpriced. Go to the Christmas Tree Shops, for goodness sake, they glue seashells to everything. This place is great if you have a big group, or are a family and want to spend your time at the movies or shopping or doing anything except talking to each other.īut it is NOT the Cape, nor does it do anything to remind you of where you are. Walking is nice, try Provincetown, Hyannis or EVERY OTHER TOWN ON THE CAPE. ![]() You actually CAN drive around the Cape and never SEE a Big Box store for miles. It's actually the magnet of all the chain stores you'd be expecting anywhere else in America, short of the malls in Hyannis. A high end, "classy" (read: expensive crap) mall that tries to make you think you are in a quaint old fashioned town center, where you can walk to EVERYTHING. Can’t wait for warm weather when their outdoor courtyard will be open.If you are coming to Cape Cod, you actually MIGHT want to try for a different experience than what you are used to.ĭon't get me wrong, this is a MALL. Maybe this place works because it’s a perfect synergy of great food, wonderful service and comfortable surroundings. How’s that for rationalization? It was beyond good. I never eat things like that, so maybe it was a good choice in a restaurant. I had the fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. Hush puppies with dipping sauce for an appetizer, a trio of deviled eggs with different fillings, braised mustard greens as a side. Really varied menu with some Southern touches that I just loved. Everything is made in house, starting with the bread basket that contained mini corn muffins and jalapeño biscuits with flavored butters on the side. It’s a steak and ribs place with an extensive whiskey bar and cocktail menu and a delightful Southern flare. What makes one restaurant a “keeper” and another, one that you go to once and never return? Not even because it was bad, but because there wasn’t anything memorable about it. Waitress was very helpful with whiskey selection, pointing out the.' Restaurant in Mashpee, MA. I’ve been thinking about what made it such a great experience. See 1 photo and 3 tips from 28 visitors to Oak & Ember. It was so good that I woke up thinking about it. We had heard some good things about this place and friends were eager to try it, so we decided to go for dinner. Went to an amazing new restaurant last night. ![]()
